What should you wear to a cocktail party?

Typically, the term cocktail attire - for women - usually refers to a semi-formal knee-length dress that's appropriate for evening. It can be a versatile "little black dress" or any festive dress that's form-fitting and appropriate for after five. If you're not a dress kind of gal, an evening top and silky pants are also considered cocktail attire appropriate.

Could you wear work attire to a cocktail party?  Absolutely!  So long as you "glam it up" a bit with evening accessories, like dangly earrings, an evening bag, or metallic sandals.  A quick change of accessories in your office at work, a touch up of the makeup, and voila!  Your business attire becomes cocktail attire.
